We’re choosing to use WordPress for more and more clients websites these days. The good thing is that we can rely on wordpress to handle all the dull routine which leaves us more time to concentrate on the presentation and usability of our websites. This keeps development costs as low as possible which enables us to deliver great websites at affordable prices.

Isn’t WordPress for blogs?

What we love is the power and flexibility of this open source system. Originally WordPress was strictly for blogs, but with version 3 the power of wordpress is finally unleashed with custom post types. What the means is that you’re no longer restricted to “pages” or “posts”, you can now easily design your own custom post types. Events, properties, portfolios, staff, whatever you need.

Making the switch to WordPress.

So finally we’ve got around to moving our own website onto the WordPress platform. WordPress uses a database to store your websites content, and by keeping the content separate from the design means easier updates in the future and the ability to try out new designs without disrupting all the content.

Responsive website design – one size fits all.

So our new website is built using a responsive grid. What this means is that we no longer have to worry about what monitor sizes or devices our visitors are using to access our website. Try resizing your browsers window to see what we mean. Of course you have a little bit less control over exactly how your website is going to appear to different users, but the upside means your website should look good on todays’ and tomorrows’ devices.

Think a responsive website might be for you?

More and more people are using smaller screen sized devices to access the internet, if your website is getting traffic from these devices then it’s worth considering how to improve the experience of these users. Contact us for more information.
